Our School Rules
1. Extremely polite manners, language, and actions are always expected in the Taekwondo School.
2. Children are not to go outside of Trautwein’s ATA building without their parents.
3. We have a lot of children in and out of class everyday, and cannot be responsible for them when they are not in class. Please get permission from Mr. or Mrs. Trautwein If your children need to be dropped off or picked up more than 15 minutes before or after class.
4. No horseplay in the dojang. Proper conduct is expected of every student in or out of the school at all times.
5. Voices should be kept low in the dressing rooms and the lobby.
6. If you have any Taekwondo problems or concerns, we encourage you to discuss them directly with Mr. Or Mrs. Trautwein.
7. Even students not taking class should stand and observe silence during the bowing in and bowing out pledges of the current class
8. Students, parents and guests will not converse with any person involved in a class session without permission from the instructor.
9. During class, students are expected to push themselves to their personal best. However, the instructor should always be informed about pre-existing injuries or disabilities so that individual modifications can be made.
Classroom Rules and Traditions
Taekwondo places a very important emphasis on traditional courtesy and established procedures. Here are some standard courtesies that may be unfamiliar to new students. They help make our Taekwondo school a special place of respect and personal discipline.
1. Please remove shoes and socks before entering the training area.
2. Please use the restroom before class begins.
3. No jewelry should be worn during class except for a wedding band.
4. Your uniform should be clean and patches properly in place at all times.
5. Women and girls may wear a white t-shirts or sports bra under their uniform. Men and boys should only wear their uniform tops with no t-shirt.
6. Do not place your belt, that you have spent so much energy earning, on the floor or ground: your belt represents the respect you have earned.
7. All belts should be tied to hang evenly, as one side represents the mind and the other side represents the body.
8. Students always stop and bow to the flags upon entering and leaving the workout area.
9. If entering the class late, the student waits at the entrance with raised hand. When recognized by the instructor, the student requests permission to enter class.
10. At the beginning and ending of each class, the students line up by rank.
11. It is the students’ responsibility to turn in their tracking card for each class.
12. Instructors and Black Belts are addressed by Mr. _____ and Ms. ______ in the school. When speaking to juniors, seniors, Black Belts, and Instructors, Sir and Ma'am are to be used by all students.
13. Students are encouraged to participate in class enthusiastically, however, they are to avoid unnecessary conversation. Should you have a question, raise your hand and wait to be recognized by the instructor.
14. When adjusting his/her dobok during class, the student turns his/her back to the instructor and the flags.
15. Do not enter or leave class without permission from your instructor.
16. Complaining, talking out, or arguing about class directions is totally alien to the Taekwondo spirit.
17. Bring your required safety equipment everyday & put your name on every piece of equipment and on your equipment bag
18. Students should not free spar without the instructors’ permission.
19. Students should not break boards without an instructor's supervision.
20. Students should keep all toe and fingernails trimmed.
21. Hair should be worn very neat and off the shoulders (tied up).
22. No one is allowed to use any equipment without permission
23. All students are expected to be courteous and understanding. Advanced students are expected to set a good example to new students and to assist such students whenever necessary
